The most wonderful time of the year!

Hello everyone. Sorry for the delayed response to our last post about freebies. I am guessing that you are all busy as well with the holiday preparations and festivities. There is a lot going on around my house. To add to the wonderful season, my little brother just returned from Iraq on Tuesday! It was the best Christmas gift our family could receive.

Thanks for those who commented on our last post or on Facebook in regards to freebies. The purpose of freebies is two folds. First to say THANK YOU to all you purchase our templates. The second, is to hopefully bring more business in. 

The most repeated comment was that most of you use a blog reader and there isn't a way to comment directly from there. One of the readers made a suggestion to "do a small contest every week or so using the Freebie! People who use the freebie show how they used it. Random winner who offers a submission wins an extra freebie!"

I love this idea! So starting in January I will be implementing something similar. It will most likely be a monthly thing and the award will either be another freebie or a gift card to our store so the winner can chose anything they like. 

I will post a brand new freebie the first week of January. Until then, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! 

The end of freebies...?

So I've been thinking. Not sure yet what I want to do, but here are my thoughts...

We try to post a freebie once a week and for the most part we do. We are late here and there, but usually have it up sometime that weekend. On average, our freebies are downloaded about 60-75 times in the one week that they are available (before we remove the download link). We enjoy giving away freebies and hope you like them as well. However, it is a little disappointing that basically no one leaves a comment or takes the time to read the post. Did you know we gave away a $50 gift certificate (here on our blog) to our store and only 6 people entered by leaving a comment!? 

Just not sure if the blog is worth our time and energy. If you disagree, please leave us a note and you may persuade us otherwise. Thanks!

Fabulous Friday

Delightful Damask Christmas Card–FREEBIE

Honestly I have no idea how Friday comes around so fast! I wasn’t very prepared for this freebie. I designed this card back in July while I was working on new designs for our Christmas in July sale. I finished the card but I wanted to create a collection and only got around to designing two cards. So I let it sit. Until today. I hope you enjoy this 5x7 holiday card in a non-traditional design and color scheme. Files are completely layered so the colors can be easily changed. What do you think? Should I finish the collection going along with this design?

10x20 Storyboard Freebie

I hope you all like the storyboard freebies...since that's been mostly what I've been posting lately.  :)  I'm in St. George for this holiday weekend for a family retreat with my in-laws.  The weather is so much cooler here than Vegas!  We got in last night and one of my daughters was complaining because she was cold.  Anyway, I don't have any pictures on my laptop, so the preview for the storyboard is a little boring.  But, it works the same as always, and that's what matters...right?  Anyway...enjoy!

September Desktop–Freebie

Hello everyone! We have had some crazy hot temperatures here, but I am grateful we aren’t getting pounded like the East coast. Prayers to everyone dealing with crazy weather right now.

I need to apologize this freebie is late. The funny thing is I traveled down to visit Angela, my partner in Blue Daisy Designs, on Friday, the day we normally post freebies. I totally forgot about this! We spent the day together with all our kids, while my husband was at a work training. It was Angela’s husband’s birthday and we had lots of fun at Joe’s Crab Shack celebrating. Below is a photo taken with my cell phone (so not the best) of both of our families together. When Angela and I go out together we get lots of stares. We have 5 girls between the two of us age 5 and under! We love girls in our households!

This weeks freebie is in anticipation of next month. I can’t believe that summer is coming to close and September is already creeping up on us. Hope you enjoy this calendar for your desktop computer.

Now Introducing…Photography Paperwork! (you know…all the goodies like contracts, print releases, etc).

I am excited to finally have this set up for grabs!  There have been a few times in my photographic career that I had clients go crazy…and I mean totally crazy on me.  In each of these instances, I was left hanging on the phone holding back tears because I had just got threatened a law suit!  My husband, who is in law school always had that, ‘alright!  Bring it on, then!’ attitude.  He just is exciting to get out there and fight….but not me, and as a photographer, that should also be your biggest worry!  I started doing business with no business forms, but soon found out that I really did need all this different paperwork in order to protect myself!  Now, no one does a shoot without a signed contract.  If they don’t like my terms, and are trying to change them around too much, I just let them know that they way I have it is how I run my business and it works well for me.  If they would like to try and find someone else, they’re welcome to.  It is so important for you to hold your ground….it is YOUR business!!  Okay, I’m talking too much now!    Here’s a picture of the forms (they’re in two files), and a link to the shop if you’d like to take advantage now.

Fast Friday Freebie–Storyboard

My little brother is in the Army. He is home on leave for 3 days before he deploys to Iraq on the 28th. I want to spend as much time as possible with him before he leaves. So, I didn’t take the time to design something in advance so this week’s freebie is one of my existing storyboards.
